The services listed have experience with referring for VNS Therapy™. LivaNova defines “experience” as services who have referred for VNS Therapy at least once within the last five years. Please note that VNS Therapy for Difficult-to-Treat Depression is not routinely funded by the NHS and whilst there are funding mechanisms in place, this is not guaranteed and should be discussed with your psychiatrist.
The list is not intended as a recommendation, referral or endorsement of any particular hospital or healthcare professional or as a tool for verifying the credentials, qualifications or abilities of any such hospital or healthcare professional. Always consult your psychiatrist for guidance regarding your treatment options.
This list is updated annually.
*The Regional Affective Disorders Service (RADS) accepts referrals from across the UK. Referrals must be from the patient’s local NHS mental health services. There may be a need for agreement of NHS funding for the referral, before a patient can be seen. All patients seen at RADS receive a comprehensive review and provision of a number of treatment recommendation, which may or may not include VNS Therapy. If VNS Therapy is recommended there may need to be further agreement of NHS funding for the treatment before this can proceed.
**Referrals to this service may be offered in collaboration with the Maudsley Advanced Treatment Service (MATS), which is provided for patients in the boroughs of Croydon, Lewisham, Lambeth and Southwark.
